About PRP Therapy
Genecov Plastic Surgery is proud to perform platelet-rich plasma therapy, also called PRP, in Dallas, TX to help replenish your facial appearance. PRP therapy is one of the most sought-after cosmetic treatments in the industry due to its natural origin and thrilling results. The treatment uses a patient's very own plasma to stimulate the skin, decreasing the prevalence of wrinkles. It can be used to soften your skin, brighten a dull tone, improve texture, and other surface irregularities. In addition, PRP therapy can also be combined with microneedling, an advanced treatment that punctures the skin to stimulate skin rejuvenation. Your platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may be administered to the same area at the same time as microneedling to help cells heal and permit the skin to begin growing new cells.

Women and men with skin irregularities desiring a nonsurgical option for facial rejuvenation may benefit from PRP therapy. It helps promote collagen production and is beneficial to help even out your skin tone and texture. During your consultation, inform us of any skin conditions, anemia, or blood disorders you may have had to decide if it's safe for you to undergo PRP therapy.
After you're comfortably seated in one of our secluded minor procedure areas, a small amount of blood will be drawn from one of your arms and put into a centrifuge machine. Most of the time, we remove around one vial of blood. After approximately 15 minutes on the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood separate and are then ready to be injected. We will load your rich plasma into a syringe and inject it into the predetermined locations. The procedure takes approximately five minutes, but that can vary on a patient-to-patient basis.
What to Expect
Plasma from PRP therapy naturally promotes the production of collagen and elastin to reveal tauter, more youthful-appearing skin. As it uses your own blood, the risk of adverse or allergic reactions is basically nonexistent. You can expect your face to be a bit red following PRP therapy as traces of red blood cells can make it into the injection. Cold packs can be used on the injection area to minimize discomfort and swelling. Dr. Genecov recommends you undergo treatments in 4 – 6-week intervals to maintain results.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do results from PRP therapy last?
PRP therapy is a treatment that can provide excellent benefits and can last for 4 – 8 weeks. The longevity of the results will vary with each patient. Just like with facials and other skin rejuvenation treatments, we encourage our Dallas area patients to schedule additional treatments throughout the year to maintain the results.
Can PRP injections help replenish volume?
Although PRP therapy can help create a glowing complexion and improve a number of skin imperfections, it cannot help with deep wrinkles or add volume. If you wish to address facial volume, your PRP therapy treatment can be combined with a dermal filler.
Is PRP therapy painful?
PRP injections are generally not painful. For most patients, they feel similar to a BOTOX or filler injection. Typically, most patients will feel a mild sting and slight pressure at the time of injection. If you are concerned about pain or discomfort, discuss this with Dr. Genecov and we will discuss options to make you as comfortable as possible during treatment.
